Coaltown Jesus, by Ron Koertge

I read the book Coaltown Jesus by Ron Koertge. It is about a 14 year old boy named Walker who has a very hard life. His older brother Noah died a few months before and he and his mother are heartbroken.

His Mom owns a nursing home for older people and is a very good person. Jesus comes to him to help him work through his problems and deal with his life. I really enjoyed the book for a lot of reasons.

It was a very quick read and I never got bored. The book was about family problems that everyone faces in one way or another. It was funny and made really sad situations seem a little better. It showed how young people can help their parents get over terrible tragedy. It showed how a teenager can deal with his or her own sadness in a positive way. I would recommend this book to any high school student!
