I read the fiction book Beneath a Meth Moon by Jacqueline Woodson. The main character Laurel goes from being a cheerleader to a homeless meth addict. Her mother and grandmother perish in Hurricane Katrina. She lives with her relatives for two years then decides to go and reconnect with her father and brother in Iowa. When she goes to Iowa she falls in love with the basketball co-captain T-Boom. Her love is really with the meth that he is selling her. He introduces her to meth also known as "Moon". When she is high on meth she feels a sensation and it lets go of all of her loss. She becomes homeless and highly addicted to meth. When she becomes friends with the street artist Moses she realizes she wants the human connection. Will Laurel overcome her meth addiction or will she let it take over and lose having a chance with her father and brother again? I recommend this book for anyone over thirteen because there is a strong romance in it and many references to meth. This book was excellent and i definitely recommend that you read it!
