Al Capone Shines My Shoes by Gennifer Choldenko

Al Capone Shines My Shoes is an entertaining, action filled book with much humor. It is a great sequel to the first book Al Capone Does My Shirts. When Moose Flanagan gets a favor from the notorious criminal Al Capone, he is later asked to return the favor. While this is happening Moose has to keep an eye on his needy sister Natalie. In between all of this, Moose needs to keep his friends happy, which can get very difficult because his friends are not very similar and get mad at him a lot. What is needed of Moose throughout the story puts a twist on his life. On another note, a group of prisoners are trying to exploit Moose’s needy sister Natalie to pull off a trick of their own and escape. They use the fact that Natalie goes to Esther P. Marinoff school in San Francisco to their advantage by passing notes or objects through Natalie without her realizing what they are doing. There are so many questions to be answered. What does Capone want? What happens with Natalie? How does Moose handle the pressure? With all the bad sequels in the world, Gennifer Choldenko puts up a great entertaining sequel.

In both Al Capone books there are convicts attempting to escape.  Check out the video below where the Mythbusters test the escape method that Frankie Morris another famous convict attempted. -Ms. M
