Something to Hold by Katherine Schlick Noe

Something to Hold is an inspiring tale that tells of a girl named Kitty Schlick who faces discrimination for being one of the few whites living on a Native American reservation. She disregards the rumors she has heard of the Native Americans and learns to embrace the beauty of their culture. Kitty soon realizes that the Native Americans are like her but are still treated unfairly. She goes on a journey trying to protect the rights deserved by the Native Americans. She defends her friends and even risks her own life to do so. She explores around the reservation and embraces their tradition. This heartfelt novel tells of a powerful story experienced by an eleven year old girl. It expresses the true conditions fought against the Native Americans. This enriching novel brings about a different perspective on a controversial topic. I would recommend this book to anyone who is interested in the injustices faced against Native Americans and anyone who wants to be inspired by brave actions. This fresh perspective details the story of a once outcast transform into a beloved young women.
