Homeless Bird by Gloria Whelan takes place in India. The story is about a young girl whose name is Koly. Her parents arrange a marriage for her with a boy she has never met. An unexpected event happens to her new husband, her father-in-law, and her sister-in-law which makes her feel there is no more hope. Her mother-in-law abandons her and leaves her homeless. Something happens to Koly that changes her point of view of things and changes the rest of her life. I liked this book because it is about a girl who is about my age. The book is about doing the right thing, making the right choices, and marriages of young couples and their hardships. I liked how the end of each chapter makes you want to read the next one. I would recommend this book to someone who likes stories about young girls, someone who is interested in India, and someone who likes books that are about doing the right thing.
